Candlewood Suites Midland South I 20 by IHG

The room was nice and clean, though the toilet seat had been left up. The hotel could use more care and staff. Nobody was at the front desk when I needed help, so I had to call the hotel to get someone’s attention. The person was very nice, but clearly busy, and the loud air duct overhead made it hard to hear each other. The biggest concern was the side entrance: its knob and lock were broken clean off, letting cold air blow in. No one mentioned this at the desk. At a nice hotel, I’ve never encountered a security problem like that. If I’d been traveling alone or with children, I would have demanded a refund and gone elsewhere. There are definite maintenance issues. The area is fun, with restaurants nearby. We walked across the street to LaMision and were happy to have it so close for a nice dinner. The desk may need a second person, since one employee has to be in two places at once. That kind of staffing cut seems to be standard when the lobby isn’t busy, though before Covid two people were always the minimum.

The room was spotless and well kept, and housekeeping clearly takes pride in their work. Staff were welcoming and professional, and I felt valued when they recognized me as a loyal guest. I had a great stay and will definitely keep coming back. Highly recommend it, a true five-star experience.

Everyone at Candlewood Suites was friendly and helpful, and the staff go out of their way to make guests comfortable. The hotel is clean and inviting, with customer service clearly a priority. It’s a great place, and I’d recommend it.

There’s no breakfast here, and the shower had hardly any pressure and was a little cold in the middle of winter. The tub was rusty. The rooms did look clean and fresh. I would’ve rather paid a few dollars more to stay at Candlewood, but they were already booked.
