We pay $2,100 a month in rent alone for a two-bedroom, plus electricity and all the other necessities, and I feel like we’re being ripped off. I wouldn’t recommend making a home here. When we signed the lease, staff were kind and helpful, but over time they’ve become dismissive and seem not to care about problems. My wife’s car has been broken into twice. We and other neighbors reported it, and nothing was done. There are problems throughout the apartment and complex. Water still leaks through the balcony door after three repair calls, the floor bubbles near the front door, and the A/C is extremely loud even after they supposedly fixed it. A broken handle and tub faucet were replaced with cheap parts that don’t match. Stray animals come through at night, leaving feces outside. The hot tub has been out of service since summer, the pool was often closed during summer, and its water is yellow and smells bad. There’s also a terrible odor in our apartment that we think comes from the garbage disposal or pipes, despite our constant cleaning, daily trash removal, cleaning the disposal, and airing the place out. When the disposal made a horrible noise, the maintenance guy asked if I wanted him to fix it just because it sounded off, saying other units sounded the same. That doesn’t make broken things okay. The bathroom fan is broken too. Parking is a nightmare if you get home after a certain time. Trash pickup used to be nice, but they changed the rules: miss the deadline to bring in your can and it’s a $25 fee. They’re supposed to collect between 5 and 6 p.m., but sometimes don’t show up until 10 or 11. That feels hypocritical. There are deep scratches on the floors and dents in appliances and the door that we didn’t notice in the first 48 hours because we were busy moving and excited about the new place. I’m sure they’ll affect our deposit. They brag about soundproofing, but I can hear neighbors’ cabinets and toilet seats. The list of issues is ridiculous.
