Americas Best Value Inn Midlothian Cedar Hill

They came through for me when Christmas was looking bleak and got me a room at the ABVI in Midlothian. Thanks for that. It’s pet friendly, too!

The front desk staff were really nice, and the beds were clean. The room seemed fairly clean too, but it could use some remodeling. Still, the price feels too high for a location that isn’t great, whether they fix the Wi-Fi and renovate or not. The Wi-Fi kept dropping every few minutes, showing “Connected Without Internet” and staying down for a minute or two. Also, every outlet in my room showed clear signs of electrical shorting, which seems like a fire hazard. The cleaning lady came in while I was asleep on my first morning, even though I had a Do Not Disturb sign up. Maybe that was an honest mistake, but they need to check the wiring so it meets fire code and won’t fry someone’s electronics, and sort out the Wi-Fi, maybe with a better router or service provider.

We were getting bites all night, so I finally put our things in the car. My 17-year-old son slept there for two hours, and I only got about two or three hours of sleep. The bed felt like a box with a sheet thrown over springs. The breakfast was awful, just watery waffles, and the pool was like a swamp, with trash and a chair in it. I didn’t take pictures because I was so stressed. Inside, the floor was sticky and filthy, and tiles were peeling up. I tripped over one after just a few steps. I left the lights on when we went to sleep so I wouldn’t fall again. There was hair all over the toilet and bathtub, so the kids wouldn’t shower. I tried, but barely any water came out. I know it was short notice, but this was horrible. They should tear it down or drop the rate from $100 a night to $25, or make it free.

The waffles, Wi-Fi, and pool for my kids make this a great value, and I’m happy here 😊. We’ll be staying a bit longer, so I’ll update you if anything important comes up.
