Super 8 by Wyndham Miller

The staff were barely around. I saw someone at check-in, and he said maybe five words. The tub drained so slowly that I stood in ankle-deep water while showering, and the towels felt like sandpaper. The chain lock couldn't be used because its slide was installed backwards. There was also a whole 4-by-8 sheet of drywall hanging from the ceiling. The hallways and entrances looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in ages, and the A/C filter was so clogged it seemed I was the first person to clean it. Locals even told us we should have stayed across the highway. There were plenty of other problems too.

The room floor was covered in garbage, and the curtain was cracked. Dead bugs were scattered around, and the place smelled like cat pee as soon as I walked in. The guy who works there, or owns the place, lives in one of the rooms. I couldn't see any standard of cleanliness here. Super 8 should take its name off this place.

The bed was comfortable and the shower got hot, but this was the dirtiest room I've been in for years. There were long hairs on the bathroom floor, two lamps had burned-out bulbs, the door's chain lock was broken, and a large piece of plaster was missing from the ceiling. The room also had a strange smell, and the ice machine was out of order. Breakfast was supposed to run until around 10, according to the sign, but by 9:20 there was no coffee, just dry cereal without milk and bread for toast. Super 8 used to be a great place to stay. After this visit and our stay at the Super 8 in Redfield, SD five days earlier, we're done with the brand.

Our room was clean, which made the stay better. The cleaning staff were really friendly and helpful. The hall interior needs updating, and the outside could use some cleaning up and improvements.
