I’d stay here again when I’m passing through for Ocean City or Selbyville. It was affordable by today’s standards, and the staff I met were really friendly. My room, bathroom, beds, and carpets were clean. WiFi worked, and the TV seemed fine, though I hardly used it. The free breakfast sounded nice, but I slept through it.

I booked this hotel mainly because of the outdoor seasonal pool for my child’s birthday. Before reserving, I checked the website and called on May 18 to confirm it would be open May 19. I was told they were filling it that day and it would be ready the next day. I made the reservation the following day through a third party for a better rate. When I arrived on the 21st, though, I was told the pool still wasn’t open. The staff also gave different accounts, with one saying it had been filled on the 20th and another saying it was filled the morning of the 21st. I work right behind the hotel and can confirm the pool had been filled since the beginning of the week. Being misled on my first experience here left a bad impression.

The front desk woman did her best to help, but nothing could make up for how bad the stay was. We arrived after a long day on the road with our 3-month-old and found a loud party in the convention room that went on until 1 a.m. I told the receptionist we needed our baby to sleep, so she put us in the room farthest from it. We could still faintly hear the music bass and the party guests’ loud motorcycles outside. The beds were uncomfortable, and the rooms felt very dated, with badly rusted lamp metal. They were clean enough, at least. Two lamps by the doors didn’t work, and the TV was tiny and showed only an infomercial channel. I called the desk and was told to restart the DirecTV box. After ten minutes with no improvement, the receptionist came up and swapped it out. By then it was 11:30 at night, and I’d wanted to watch TV while feeding the baby, but instead I spent ten minutes making small talk while it was fixed. The price absolutely wasn’t worth it. I’ve barely written a bad review in my life, but this place earned one. Worst hotel stay I’ve had.

Cleo, whom we met at the desk in the morning, was lovely to talk with. She’s worked at the hotel since it opened 37 years ago, and her husband works there too. The place had only reopened two days earlier after its winter closure, which the man at the counter explained when we found the parking lot completely empty and wondered if we had the right place. Our dated room was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The in-room fridge, freezer section, and microwave were handy for our drinks and snacks. I even froze two water bottles overnight to use as ice packs for the next day. Breakfast is mostly grab-and-go, with muffins, yogurt, fruit cups, cereal, coffee, and similar snacks. There’s also a small laundry room with two washers and dryers, plus an ice machine. We stayed while passing through and meeting local friends for dinner, and I’d stay again next time I’m in the area.

The room was clean and nice, and breakfast was already out around 6:30 in the morning. I checked in on May 21, 2025, and the gentleman, whose name I think was Robert, was super nice. Ashley was at the desk the next day and was just as nice. We’ll definitely come back.
