Ramada Hazleton

For $150, I expected a lot better. I've had better stays at places like super 8 or holiday inn for $60, and I wouldn't pay even $30 for this one. The hotel is very old and needs paint. There were no trash cans or hangers in the room, and they didn't want to give us glass cups. The coffee machine was dirty, and one lamp didn't work. When I called the lobby about it, they hung up on me.

I've stayed here a few times. The rooms are large and somewhat clean, though upkeep seems limited. It's affordable and decent enough when you're in a pinch. The place has changed names a few times, and I believe it's now called the Red Carpet.

The motel was filthy, one of the dirtiest places I've stayed. There was hair on the bathroom walls, the bedspreads were very dirty, and the chair was ripped. The dresser drawers were dirty too. Also, there are people living in the woods behind the motel who looked like zombies. Be careful with your vehicle here.

The front desk guy was really nice. When I called about an ash tray and another pillow, he brought them right up without any trouble, then refunded me and apologized over and over without giving me attitude. Still, none of that makes it worth the risk of bringing bed bugs home. I checked under the mattress when we arrived and didn't see anything. After lying in bed watching TV, I got an itchy bite on my hip, then two more on my elbow about ten minutes later. I told my boyfriend and showed him the bites, so I searched behind the wooden headboard attached to the wall. I saw something move, took a flash photo, and caught a bed bug in the picture. The blanket also had burn holes, the carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed or cleaned in months, and I had to use a paper clip to shut the curtains fully so people couldn't look in. There were only two pillows, and even though I had a smoking room, there weren't any ash trays.
