Our wedding at the Milwaukee Athletic Club felt magical. The Rooftop Terrace gave us a beautiful view for a romantic ceremony, and the Grand Ballroom looked elegant for the reception. Katie, the Event Manager, kept everything running smoothly and paid close attention to the details. She was professional and made us feel like part of the MAC family throughout the planning. Chef Tom’s food was a highlight, and people are STILL talking about how great dinner was. Huge thanks to Katie, Chef Tom, and the whole team for making our day a dream. I highly recommend the venue for its elegance and food.

We’re proud to be MAC members and love sharing this place with family and friends. The renovation looks incredible, and it’s so nice having somewhere in the city to work out, get work done, and go for a meal. The cocktails in the elephant room have been wonderful, and the food we’ve tried so far has been great. Looking forward to rooftop dining in the summer, too.

I joined about a year ago and have been really glad I did. The gym is so good it actually gets me up early to work out. The Elephant Room and the rooftop bar and restaurant are great, with excellent views. Highly recommend.

My first visit to the rooftop was as a member’s guest. I paid separately on my own bill, but my card was charged twice, once for the meal total and again for the full amount with tip. Check your statements. I came back after work another evening and ordered a Miller Lite. It tasted skunky, but I didn’t say anything and planned to get another drink and some food. We were having a nice time with another member, chatting and laughing on a beautiful evening. When the server tried to take the last menu, I asked to keep it since I hadn’t chosen my food yet. The manager came over to check on us and tried to take my half-finished beer. I said I wasn’t done, but wanted to order something else because it tasted off. I asked if I could place the order with her, since some places pool tips and she was checking that we were having a good experience. Instead of helping, she said she wasn’t a server, she was a manager. When our server came back, I ordered food first. He noted it wouldn’t arrive with everyone else’s because I’d just ordered, which was obvious, but okay. Then I asked for a different light beer and he said he was cutting me off because I was drunk. This was my first drink that night and I’d only had half. They also stopped the other two people in our party, both members, from ordering, saying they might give me their drinks. My member friend told the manager she’d escalate the issue, and the manager said she didn’t care because it was her last night. I’ve worked in the service industry for more than 20 years, and some people just don’t belong in hospitality. That response made sense of things. I don’t drink much, so maybe half a Miller Lite made me look like I was having too good a time for them. I wasn’t worried about the slight buzz with food on the way, but we canceled our order and left. Don’t come here expecting a nice time. Staff might single you out and embarrass you in front of your whole party. If someone was concerned, the professional thing in a private club would’ve been to take the member aside and talk to them. I’ll gladly reconsider this review if my member friends’ concerns are properly addressed by the supervisor.
