We had an ideal place for our first vacation as empty nesters. The parking was even closer than the easy beach walk from our end unit on the 1st floor. Sandestin Links and Baytowne golf were close by too. We’ll be back.

The HOA needs to change how it handles community cats. I believe it’s trapping cats that have been fixed and microchipped, then sending them to animal control, where they’re euthanized. They were in a Trap-Neuter-Return program and were already being managed humanely. Neighbors offered humane alternatives, but those were ignored. The HOA says the cats are “damaging golf carts,” yet removing and killing them this way is unnecessary, inhumane, and avoidable.
We have two days left, and I hope we can at least enjoy the ocean from bed with the balcony door shut. The marijuana smell outside has kept us from using the balcony, and when I called, I was told to contact security. I thought taking care of guests was their job. My husband is terminally ill with cancer, and we rarely have the time or money to get away. We don’t know if this will be his last trip, so it’s heartbreaking that it hasn’t been the amazing getaway we hoped for. The beach itself was clean and gorgeous, and the view was perfect, but we couldn’t use the chairs and umbrella provided with the room. The beach photo must have been taken early. About 30 minutes after we got down there, there was nowhere to set them. Rental umbrellas and chairs go out in two rows each morning, and we were told not to set up in front of them. A big wall drops from the sand straight into the water, so there wasn’t room there anyway. Beachside 2 renters were supposed to stay in front of their condo, but people were packed into the small area like sardines. I didn’t see anyone wearing the required bracelets, so I’m not sure where those people were staying. We booked without knowing construction had closed our beach access. Walking around to reach the beach wasn’t terrible, and the room was fairly clean, though it could have been better. Still, we wouldn’t stay here again.
The beach was a mess, with tents and towels set up in the aisles and even in front of the rental chairs. It’s public, so anyone can claim a front-row spot. The condo was nice, but the living room window had no curtain, and the rod was behind the TV. We also weren’t told about construction on the grounds when we booked. Service was excellent, but I probably wouldn’t stay again. Nothing was within walking distance, and the rental unit was poorly stocked. Bring supplies, including garbage bags that won’t break, a cookie sheet, and a decent toaster.
Our cute Airbnb was so well kept. Coming in the off-season was amazing, and we loved driving the golf cart around. Everything was so close!
