Gulfview II 301

The Gulfview keeps bringing me back mostly because of where it is. It’s quiet, there’s no trash blowing around, and the pool and BBQ grills are a nice bonus. The photos I posted were taken across the street, right by the beach.

We had a lovely time here. Our balcony looked out to the sea, and we could get to the beach through private access. Everything worked out perfectly for us.

The rates were really good, and the beach is just a short walk away. Great spot.

We liked the quick walk to the private beach, under 100 yards, and the view of the ocean from the room and balcony was good. Room 311 was nice, with a full kitchen and regular-size fridge. Guest services responded quickly, and the dumpster was conveniently placed. One catch, the second and third floors are stairs only. The tiny balcony was really only big enough for two, and although the AC was set to 74, it wouldn’t go below 70, supposedly because that’s everyone’s comfort level. The cleaning fee was $238 plus tax, but we were expected to wash dishes, do laundry, sweep, and mop ourselves. When I asked about it, I was told the fee covered cleaning after checkout. The floors were sandy when we arrived. We walked across in flip-flops and slipped, then took them off and found our feet covered in sand. It didn’t seem like the place had been cleaned between guests. Supplies were very limited: enough for one load of laundry and dishes, two small rolls of toilet paper, and just three washcloths. We ended up buying towels and washcloths, paying $7-$8 per washer-and-dryer load, and picking up ordinary things like soap, trash bags, and detergent. We managed to have a good stay, and enjoyed our first trip to the Miramar/Destin area, with its family activities and shopping. Even so, we’ll look for somewhere else next time.
