Hampton Inn & Suites Destin-Sandestin Area

Renae at the front desk took great care of us, especially with our two-year-old. We arrived without a car at 10am and couldn’t check in yet, so she held our bags. While we waited, our son got to swim and had a great time. Check-in is normally at 4, I think, but the early room we’d requested was ready at 12:50. The room was clean, the beds were comfy, and breakfast had top-notch choices. We felt like we were in good hands and will stay here again. Thanks again for all your help, it meant a lot!

The beds were the cleanest part of the room, so my family and I sat on them most of the time. The sofa bed smelled too, the room itself had an odor, and the carpet needs replacing. I also saw mold in a bathroom ceiling corner. We had trouble with the air conditioning: it blew cold for a while, then switched to room temperature. The front desk showed us how to operate it, but it kept acting up. When we checked in, the floor hadn’t been vacuumed after the previous guests, and there was hair on the toilet. A kind front desk employee came up and dealt with it. The staff were nice and professional, and the beach and restaurants were nearby, but the hotel as a whole could use a remodel. We probably won’t stay here again.

We only stayed one night, thankfully. The place needs an upgrade, and the person who checked us in wasn’t friendly. We had two rooms; the other couple found roaches in theirs. We left early without trying the free breakfast. It didn’t meet Hilton:s standards. At checkout, the woman credited the room with the “situation” and said pest control was coming the next day.

The room looked nice and was clean, but a lot went wrong beyond that. The broken door handle made it hard to get inside, and our group of three had only one bath towel. We asked for more, but none arrived. There aren’t vending machines, despite a wall sign pointing to “Ice & Vending.” I tried calling the hotel for two weeks, before, during, and after the stay, sometimes letting it ring for over 10-15 minutes. No one ever answered. I also asked the Hotel Manager three times to call me during our stay, and still haven’t heard from him.
