La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Miramar Beach-Destin

The rooms are pretty average, and ours wasn't clean. I wiped up a little water and the towel came away black, like the floor hadn't been mopped in ages. Staff came in the next day supposedly to clean, but when we returned there were no towels and the cover had just been thrown onto the beds. We had to go to the front desk to get towels. Breakfast was horrible. The one bright spot was the front desk worker the next morning. He was great.

I've stayed at La Quinta locations for years and usually enjoyed them. I'd been to this one once before without being charged a $100 deposit, but this time they charged it. I understand a pet fee, but I was traveling alone and didn't expect a $100 deposit. The man at the desk didn't seem understanding or receptive when I explained my frustration. I paid because I needed somewhere to sleep, but he couldn't even put me in a room with a regular bathroom or tub. It was a handicapped-accessible room, with a shower like one in a gym or locker room, and no bar of soap by the sink for washing hands. The room was cool with the AC, and the bed looked clean. Don't bother calling the customer care line, though. The computer never connects you to an agent; it just asks whether you want to open a Wyndham rewards account. I hope the next location I stay at is better.

This was our second week-long stay while visiting Miramar Beach. The prices were very reasonable, and the clean, well-maintained basic rooms and friendly, helpful staff met our needs. Breakfast could use more choices, though. By the third day we were ready for something different and started finding other places to eat. If you don't mind repeating the same options, it's still a nice perk. We had another good experience and will definitely return.

Jennifer and Paul at the front desk were so kind and helpful. The room was very clean, and we love the vinyl floors instead of carpet, especially with pets. Breakfast was great and the coffee was good too. We'll definitely come back. Thanks, Jennifer and Paul!
