SpringHill Suites by Marriott Mishawaka-University Area

On February 14th, I arrived to check in with my wife and four children, including a baby, and the front desk lady said my reservation had been canceled. I had never canceled it. She said they’d reverse the $168 and would record that the hotel had canceled it, so we had to find another hotel that night. On February 16th, I spoke with a manager, who said the money would be returned after he updated an online portal, which would take a couple of days. I waited, but after 10 days the money still hadn’t come back. When I called, the front desk lady found my name, said she knew about the situation, and asked me to call back later for an update. I called again the next day, on February 27th. A new manager was extremely rude, said she couldn’t find me and had no record of the booking, and refused to ask the colleague I’d spoken to the day before about the case. I feel like I was lied to and scammed. They kept the $168 after telling me it would be reversed. Stay away from this hotel. I’m going to keep posting negative comments daily for years. Trust me, you picked the wrong person to mess with. Your score will be 2-. Reservation at this hotel attached.

I’ve stayed here for work over the past 3 years, and even after trying other places, I still make this my first choice. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and there’s a pool and hot, fresh breakfast. The rooms are older, though they’re getting ready for a renovation project. The location is great: 10 min from Notre Dame, Meijers across the street, and restaurants within walking distance or a short drive. Portillo's, Cheddar's, and Mission BBQ are three of my favorites.

The pool has been broken for 6 weeks and counting, and there are badly patched water damage spots on the ceilings. The room smelled of cigarette smoke, the elevator seemed sketchy, the couch had stains, and the shower heads were horrible. Night staff can be kind, but the day staff were rude and yelled at my kids for WALKING in the hallway midday, while letting other guests run through the halls and stairs past 10pm. If you have kids, don’t stay here. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it or come back.

The room was large, with a very nice bathroom, though there were some bugs in the window seal. Staff were amazing, and the atmosphere when we walked in was much better than at a lot of other places, including the Fairfield down the road. Most awesome place.
