Corn Palace Inn

The room was a pleasant surprise, with lots of space to move around. We liked the older-style bathroom, with a large separate sink counter and a closed-off tub and toilet area. It had two queens, a table and chairs, TV, mini fridge, and microwave. The walls and room were clean, and the air conditioning worked well without being noisy. The rug was worn and the tub seal needed attention. We're enjoying our stay. From the roadside the Corn Palace Inn looked rundown and in need of care. Reception, both the man and woman, gave us top-notch, friendly service. It was extremely hot and we asked for early check-in. Our room wasn't ready, but they quickly moved us into another room with cool air conditioning and a place to sit while we waited. We didn't mind the wait, and they made the change easy.

We prepaid for a room, but there was nobody at the property. A note on the front door said to call someone for a key. The number went to voicemail, and the mailbox was full. The online photos don't show the place accurately. It looked rundown, like it might be going out of business. Thankfully our credit card company helped us get the prepaid charge credited back. This place is a scam. Stay away. I'd give it less than zero stars.

We ended up stopping at Mitchell's Corn Palace Inn on August 19 without planning ahead, and it turned out really well. The price was reasonable for just one night. Our room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom looked newly redone. The shower water was a comfortable temperature too. ❤️

I booked by phone and paid $170, but when I arrived the lobby was closed and every light was off. Some rooms were boarded up, and others had open doors with no lights on. I called for a room number and key but couldn't reach anyone. After waiting in the parking lot for 45 minutes, I gave up. I'd avoid this place completely. Sleeping in your vehicle would be better.
