The location makes it easy to get to Moab and the La Sal mountains, and the sunset is a must-see. We traveled almost 3,000 miles to stay in these cabins for a second time. The rooms are overdue for updates. The pool needs work too. There’s exposed PVC on the bottom, with lots of rocks and sand in it.

We stayed in The Lodge, and it was far bigger than we expected. They say it suits three people, but there’s so much space you could have twice that number and barely notice them. The ranch feels wonderfully remote, though the nearest town is only about 20 minutes away. The other guests were respectful and easygoing, though of course that can vary depending on who’s there. We had a great stay and hope to return to Pack Creek Ranch.

We loved Pack Creek Ranch and ended up staying in two units. First was the Gate House, a beautifully remodeled place with a stylish main bedroom, living area, and den with a Murphy bed, couch, and loft bed. The main bathroom had separate showerheads for him and her. The other bathroom had a nice copper tub and mountain views. Full-time neighbors brought us vegetables from the garden, which my wife loved. Behind the unit, our son enjoyed feeding two friendly goats at the goat farm. Our dogs kept bothering them, which isn’t advised. The TV is in the den, so it wasn’t easy to use if someone was sleeping there. We liked the area so much that we rented The Lodge around the corner too. It was considerably bigger, and I think it may once have served as the ranch staff mess hall. There was a bedroom and bathroom area with a TV, plus a little sleeping cubby by the kitchen. The huge living room had another TV, and the kitchen and patio were huge too. The patio overlooks the creek. We spent mornings there with coffee before heading out on our motorcycles. Wi-Fi worked well at both places, so our phones worked and I could get some work chores done before the trails. Pack Creek Ranch is about 20 minutes up the road from Moab, toward the La Sal mountains. Its valley and creek location make it much cooler than Moab proper, with plush grass all around. The pool house had a solid indoor hot tub, while the pool was a little chilly in late September. Dan and Nick were both helpful hosts. The property also has history connected to Edward Abby, the well-known environmentalist writer. His works are displayed around the place as décor, which led me to download his audiobook Dessert Solitaire for the drive home. We loved Moab and expect to return every year, and we’ll definitely hope to stay at Pack Creek Ranch again. I’m adding a few pictures, mostly focused on the baby, to show the adventure and charm.

It was relaxing to be out of town under the stars, and it’s a great base for mountain biking and getting away from it all. If you’re after Moab nightlife, this probably isn’t the place. The hot tub wasn’t working and the pool was empty, though it was early in the season.
