The room was in awful shape when I checked in. The tub had hair, stains, and a ring around it, and the restroom floor was sticky and dirty. There was dried vomit on the wall by the toilet, and the shower walls and the area above the bed were dirty too. I bought Scrubbing Bubbles and Clorox wipes at Walmart next door and scrubbed the tub twice. The carpet was so filthy my socks turned almost black within a couple of hours, so I put towels by the bed and bathroom to avoid walking on it. The shower head was broken and tied with plastic. It took two days before I caught the "manager" and got staff to replace it. A man handed me the new head, and I had to install it myself. There was thick dirt and visible mold in the AC vents. I told the front desk I have severe mold allergies and got a smile in response. The pool was tiny, with peeling paint and large chips left scattered around, a hazard for children who could swallow them. I asked to change rooms, but the five alternatives the smiling front desk man showed me were just as bad or worse. He said the same person cleans all the rooms and admitted there were ongoing problems with broken tables, damaged shower heads, and mold, but nothing had been fixed. When I asked why, he smiled and said nothing. The next day, staff came into my room despite the do not disturb sign, supposedly to "polish up." They only cleaned the restroom floor and sprayed it with bleach. I cleaned the tub walls after them, and it was clear they’d only sprayed those too. I’d warn people to keep shoes on and belongings off the floor. In my opinion, the property has serious health and sanitation issues and should be inspected before taking more guests. I’ll post plenty of pictures. The manager promised a partial to full refund, said he’d contact Priceline and call me back, but he never did, and I didn’t see him again for the rest of my stay. There’s still been no response or resolution. My health is involved because they knew about my severe mold allergy. I started getting stuffiness on one side of my nose on Monday. I thought it might be a cold, but I’m still having sinus trouble, sneezing, and on-and-off stuffiness today, and realized these are symptoms of mold exposure.

There was overflowing trash outside, and the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. Several plugs were a fire hazard, while some outlets were damaged or didn’t work. The hand towel had pubic hair all over it, and there was no shampoo or conditioner. Greasy carpet had toothpaste stains on it, and the nightstand was an unsecured, balancing piece of wood that fell over when used.

I grew up nearby, from elementary school through high school, and came back to Mobile for Christmas. The hotel has clearly had a facelift once or twice. The rooms were clean and comfortable for the area, and the location near Walmart, the interstate, and other main roads is a good find in Mid-Town Mobile, where things can be hit or miss. The beds are quite firm but usable, though a mattress pad would help. The hotel was generally decently clean, apart from the floors. They were dirty everywhere, often sticky enough to make that sound underfoot. The parking lot was clean except around the overflowing dumpster. Closing its doors would have helped, and the mess fits with how dirty Mobile itself can be. Breakfast was standard hotel fare: make-your-own waffles that were pretty good, Chobani Greek yogurt, eggs, sausage, cereal, muffins, and bread. The walls are thin, so bring something for white noise. In my room, 224, the AC seemed to stay on at its coldest setting, and I was pretty chilly much of the time.

The breakfast looked nice, but there was no milk for the cereal and the coffee tasted burnt. I tried adding hot water to dilute it, but that water was cold. I told the front desk, and nothing changed during the hour I spent gathering my things to leave. Before I left, a roach came out from under the sink. I’d have given two stars if there had been someone at the desk to speak with. The property looked appealing from outside, and at first the room seemed nice, though the lighting was dim. Then I noticed an ash-like mark on the topper, a pink spot on the desk, dirty-looking carpet, and sticky table and side-table tops. The bathroom was disgusting, with hair everywhere, slippery floors, debris in the corners, more hair on the shower walls, and a dirty rag hanging from the rod. I bought bleach cleaner. The elevator also made me wonder whether cleaning was being kept up. Overnight, the AC hummed and rattled, drowning out thumping music from somewhere. I started out thinking the listed 3.75/5 stars just reflected people being picky, but the stay got worse as it went on. The building entrance looked nice, though no one came to the desk until I made a noise to get the attendant from the back. I ended up giving it one star.

There was red hair everywhere when we arrived, and the room looked dirty, as if someone had just left. The sheets were fine, but asking twice in two days for the bathroom to be cleaned got us only one toilet cleaning. Breakfast was terrible too. They took a $100 damage deposit and said it would be returned in 5-7 days. It’s been a month and I still haven’t got it back. I won’t use them again. Don’t stay here.
