Candlewyck Cove Resort

The cabin was spotless, with a king bed, a huge whirlpool tub, a separate walk-in shower, and a full kitchen. I appreciated finding dishes included. I didn’t get to use the hot tub because of the windstorm, which also knocked out the power while I was in town running errands. The site manager made sure to let me know about the outage. Check-in was easy and quick, and checkout took even less time. It’s a really quiet spot. I lived in Grove for five years and had no idea Candlewyck was there. I’d definitely recommend it for a weekend getaway.

The room itself was great, and I loved the balcony even though February was too cold to sit out there. The TV felt a little small, and the air conditioner was somewhat noisy, but otherwise I was very happy with the room. The internet, though, was really bad. It’s quite remote, so getting to a restaurant takes about a 10-minute drive. There was no front desk after 4 p.m. on Saturday, but my instructions were in the mailbox and easy to follow. I imagine it’s a lot of fun here in summer.

The staff were so friendly and efficient, and they even came by to see if we needed anything. Tracy, the resort manager, was especially nice and great to work with while arranging our family reunion. We used a home, hotel rooms, a townhouse, and cabins, and all of them were clean and comfortable, with good beds, spotless bathrooms, well-equipped kitchens, and nicer furnishings than most hotels. We held a potluck in the cafe one evening, which worked really well. Breakfast each morning had lots of choices, including biscuits and gravy, sausage, pastries, waffles, bagels, and a delicious range of fruit. My family was impressed, and we all agreed we should return next year. Thanks, Candlewyck Cove Resort, for a wonderful weekend!

We had a great time during the quieter season, visiting Harber Village to see Santa and spending time with friends. Our place at Cottonwood worked well for us: my husband and I shared the king bed, and our toddler slept on the twin pullout. There was a gas fireplace, a jetted tub, and both a private deck and hot tub. Helpful signs explained little things like using the shower and finding blankets for the pullout. It was relaxing, easy, and good value, with convenient amenities. I hope we can come back soon!
