Shangri-La Resort

Jorden handled the few hiccups I had during my stay right away. She apologized without hesitation and genuinely made things right. I’ve worked in customer service for a long time, and she clearly knows how to take care of people. She’s one reason guests will keep coming back. The views are great and there’s plenty to do. We also got to enjoy a sleigh ride during the Christmas season, which was special. Thanks, Shangri-La. And a shout out to Mel, Tracey, Hr, and Lisa at the front desk for always being so kind and thoughtful, plus the housekeepers Shawana and Jessica. We left a little something in your stocking. Merry Christmas again, Shangri- La.

The Anchor was packed last night, but we still had a great time having dinner and drinks, watching a game, and enjoying ourselves. It has an arcade, two private golf simulator bays, a pro shop, a restaurant, and a great bar. This is our summer spot, though we were at the lake this weekend. Love The Anchor all year round.

I’ve stayed here for the past three years and haven’t had any complaints. It feels far enough away that you can really get away, and the scenery is beautiful. They seem to keep improving the property, so each visit feels fresh. I’ll definitely be back.

The golf course and setting are beautiful, but our stay didn’t match the luxury experience Shangri-La advertises. My husband called it “upscale tent camping with other people,” and that felt about right for us. We could hear conversations, doors closing in the hallway, and even another guest’s alarm, which woke us up. The walls are paper-thin. The bed was rock hard, the pillows small and flat, and our bathtub was rusted, making the room feel dated. Dining was a letdown too. The lakeside restaurant was closed for the season even though it was still 80 degrees in October. Doc’s had very limited hours and was closed Sunday. The Anchor was crowded with kids, had mediocre fried food and pizza, and lots of dirty tables. The Summit’s food was great, but its dated interior and lackluster service left a lot to be desired. We’d booked a couples massage at the Shangri-La spa several weeks ahead, then got a text the evening before saying it was canceled because of staffing issues. That was incredibly disappointing. For the price and reputation, we expected more from the accommodations and amenities.
