The service is great, and I always sleep comfortably in the beds. I keep choosing this place whenever I’m in town because the location works so well.

I’ve stayed here before and had just as good an experience then. Being in Los Angeles comes with plenty of drawbacks, as anyone from here knows, but this place was clean and there weren’t any homeless people around. The room suited what I needed, with a king bed, couch, coffee table, big TV, and a small fridge. The AC worked really well too, which you definitely need in LA.

I came for one night because the location worked well, and the employees were very polite. But the room was awful. There was black mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the bathroom had a strange smell. The carpet was old with a huge black stain, and there were stains on the door and walls, possibly pee. The computer chair was falling apart, and I found tobacco and a blunt in the bedside drawer. Popcorn kernels and hair accessories were on the floor, so it clearly hadn’t been fully cleaned. I needed sleep and had a busy schedule, so I didn’t complain. I’m not sure the other rooms would be any better. I’ve never stayed somewhere this bad. Massive stains, trash left around, and bathroom mold. Run away from this place.

We’d stayed here multiple times, and up until this happened there was never a problem. The staff had always been polite. After checking out for a few days, we booked online to return, but when we arrived they refused to let us stay and wouldn’t refund our $100. They said we’d taken pillows during the previous stay. The four of us, my husband, me, and our two boys, bring our own pillows and blankets. When I asked for proof, the front desk person just stared blankly and refused. We were left without a place to sleep, and they kept the last of our deposit money.

Monique at the front desk was awake and watching the security cameras when it mattered. One night, my cat Rollie was outside and a group of coyotes showed up nearby. Monique quickly alerted me and helped me reach him. He was attacked, but we could intervene, and he survived. Her calm, fast response may have saved my cat’s life, and perhaps mine too. If she’d been like some night staff I’ve seen during ten months in hotels, sleeping through the shift and neglecting guest security from trespassers and predators, our party of three could have become two, or even one. I’ll never forget that she was paying attention. Back in February 2025, I was fighting homelessness after being displaced from Savannah and returning to California. Oak Tree Inn made an exception to its no-pet policy for me and my two boys. I stayed there for a month with only what fit in my car and my two cats. I’d never been in that situation before, and I can’t explain how grateful I am to Monique. I don’t know how I’d have coped with losing one of my boys during such a devastating time, and I would never have forgiven myself. Thank you, Monique. You’re a hero with front desk keys, and I’ll remember your kindness forever. Rollie was about 17lbs when you last saw him. Now he’s 21lbs, fat and happy because of you. He says meow, and we’ll start our weight loss journey soon, though maybe next Summer since this Summer already started, haha. Meow 😻
