The beach was an easy walk away, with proper paths so you don’t have to climb through the sand. Some spots could be difficult for people with mobility issues, and there are no elevators. Staff were available on site during the day, housekeeping came daily though we only had them in twice, and late check-in was no problem even with the office closed. We had a great experience. We stayed in Unit 37, in the corner of Upper Rapallo. It faced the ocean and had a wonderful view. Get a second-floor unit if seeing the ocean matters, since the first floor looks out on dunes. The condo was spotless, in good shape, and had a sweet beach theme. It was just right for two, but pretty small for its furniture, and I can’t picture fitting more people or figuring out where everything would go if the pull-out sofa bed were used. Still, we’d happily stay in that unit again.

We were in the area for a concert in Amagansett and booked one night online in October. The messages before arrival were clear, and digital check-in sent the room details electronically. Since we got there after the front office had closed, having that information in advance was very useful. Our second-floor room faced the ocean. We didn’t mind using the stairs, though I didn’t see an elevator. It was clean and snug, with a small bathroom that worked fine for the two of us. The front door opened into the bedroom, while the living area and balcony with an ocean view were at the back. There was a kitchenette and cooking gear we didn’t need for one night, but it’d be handy on a longer visit. Bring your own coffee: there’s a machine and filters, but no coffee, so we went to Goldbergs down the road. The blind on the bedroom door window lets in light, so sleeping late could be tricky unless you cover it. There also weren’t many easy-to-reach outlets. With a c-pap and fan, you may have to improvise or give up a lamp. Parking was plentiful, though our spot wasn’t right outside the room, just nearby. We had an enjoyable stay.

The view of the water was about the only good part, and the rusty patio chairs meant we couldn’t even sit outside and enjoy it. We were promised a newly renovated room, but got one with carpet that smelled of mildew and looked about 20 years old, mold in the shower, and rusty chairs. The queen pull-out sofa was broken, impossible to sit on, let alone sleep on. I had to buy an air mattress and bring it to the hotel for the nights we were there. We asked to change rooms and were told no. The front desk seemed not to care about the room’s condition or the fact we had to buy a mattress. When we complained, they asked whether they should send someone to show us how to use the bed, as if we’d never used a pull-out sofa. Worst night’s sleep I’ve ever had. Wouldn’t recommend booking here, there are many better options around.

I’d stay here again. The location was good, under a ten-minute drive to Mountalk or East Hampton, and my second-floor unit had an ocean view with just a few steps to the beach. Early October was quiet and uncrowded, and warm enough for a day on the sand, though I wouldn’t suggest swimming. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen worked well. The bathroom was small, and there wasn’t really room for luggage in the tiny bedroom.
