A handy place to stop for the night, just outside Montgomery on Hwy31 and right off I65 at Exit 164. It's quiet, and if you arrive toward the weekend, Mr. Monroe will take care of you. Breakfast is continental and starts at 4 am. Hard to beat.

After several stays over the past two years, we won't be coming back. On this visit we found what we thought was a bed bug, and my husband had several bites. I reported it right away, sent photos of the insect and his reaction, and asked for a refund. We were moved to another room eventually, but after 2 AM there was no one at the desk, which delayed things for us and another guest. I understood the hour. I was told pest control would investigate and management would contact me, but despite asking more than once, I never got results or a reply. My calls to the hotel went unanswered until I tried a different number. Then I was told no manager was available until the next week. I've still heard nothing. I later learned the health department had received complaints about various issues but found no evidence of bed bugs in its investigation. Even so, the lack of communication, accountability and customer service was unacceptable. We understood there could be issues with the new owners, but some follow-up would have meant a lot. This was deeply disappointing and unprofessional.

They told me at check-in that plumbing work would leave us without water for about two hours, and I was okay with that. But once it came back, the water ran brown for an hour. After it had been running brown for 15 minutes, I asked the desk if they were offering any compensation for the added inconvenience. They said I should have canceled at check-in if I knew the water would be off. No discount, apology or even a free snack. Really terrible customer service.

Avoid booking here if you might need to cancel. I accidentally selected the wrong month on a reservation a couple of weeks ago and called right away, a month before the date, to fix it. I'm still trying to cancel and get my money back. I bought travel insurance, but it doesn't seem to help, and I'm still filing a claim. This feels like a scam.
