Holiday Inn Express Monticello by IHG

The front desk staff were great and very helpful when I needed to extend my stay. It's a typical HI Express, with a clean room and a decent free breakfast.

The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. My three-star rating is because breakfast wasn't ready on time. It is supposed to start at 6 am, and around 15-20 construction workers were waiting at 5:45. By 6:15, most had left without eating so they could get to work, and the food still wasn't out. I was told the black woman preparing breakfast usually has it ready on time, often by 5:45, but when the black man is doing it, it's always late and you don't know how late. As I left at 6:15 with everyone else, he was just walking into the breakfast area to get it ready. If breakfast is promised at 6 am to your biggest customer base, it should be available then. People shouldn't have to leave without the breakfast they already paid for with their room and buy food at a store instead.

The room was clean and easy to get to, parking was good, and the desk lady was nice and helpful. But someone upstairs ran and jumped around, making a terrible racket for a long time. I tried calling the desk, but the phone didn't work, so I called the website to complain. The noise finally stopped around 11:00. I won't be back.

The staff are amazing and beautiful, and Miss Debra is the gem of the place. She's the sweetest, makes the world's best coffee and food, and brings so much joy that she fills your heart as well as your stomach. There are lots of thoughtful extras: seating by the pool, laundry, a small office area for getting work done, and a spacious gym where you can work off Miss Debra's special breakfast. The hotel also has plenty to do on site, and it's just steps from a great shopping center. From the room to the staff, I can't rave enough about this wonderful place. If you're in Monticello, Arkansas, stop by and check it out. You won't be disappointed!
