The location is convenient, with plenty of places to eat and shop within walking distance. The rooms were clean and the people very nice. We skipped breakfast, though it was complimentary. My only small complaint was hearing a family nearby walking up and down the stairs and kids playing. They quieted down by 9pm, and there isn’t much the hotel can do about that, it’s part of the charm of an old building! It didn’t really bother me, but if you need a quiet stay, keep it in mind.

The location was great, just minutes from several restaurants and under a 10-minute walk from a grocery store. I stayed one night and would definitely come back, especially since it didn’t break the bank. This is a beautiful, nearly 200-year-old traditional inn. It was cozy in winter, though I can imagine it getting pretty toasty in summer. The old-place charm includes uneven floors and the like, but my deluxe room was big, with a comfortable king bed, and the temperature and bathroom were both good. Continental breakfast was included and started at 7:30am. Hope this helps!

The inn was quaint and clean, but I wouldn’t stay again. The HVAC system needs serious attention. In March, during an overnight skiing trip, room #27 was sweltering, well into the 80s, even though the thermostat said it was in the 60s. We switched it off and opened all the windows. There was a window fan in the closet, but it didn’t work. It took about an hour for the room to feel comfortable. At bedtime, we shut the windows but left two cracked, then woke up sweating and had to open them again. After falling back asleep, we were woken another hour by the bar crowd returning, though that part wasn’t the inn’s fault. One bed was decent; the other was horrible.

I called about a last-minute trip to Montpelier and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. The on-site manager gave me really helpful recommendations for food and activities when I arrived. My room was extremely clean, comfortable, and spacious. It was nice to have a warm breakfast option in the morning, and the location made downtown Montpelier very convenient.

The location is handy for downtown Montpelier, with everything within walking distance. It’s also 15 minutes from Waterbury, 25 minutes from downtown Stowe, and 30 minutes from Stowe Mountain / Mount Mansfield. For the price, this is a great place, and I’ll stay again. The inn is quite old, but has plenty of charm. My room was standard but roomy, with a big bed, a sitting room and desk, a standard bathroom, and lots of closet space. The large windows mostly looked toward the brick residence next door. The room stayed very warm even with the heat off. There’s an air conditioner that does the trick, though it feels a little odd to run it when it’s 25°F outside. I think the building just runs warm, and it was thoughtful of the owners to provide it. The continental breakfast was pretty standard but did the job. There’s also a sun room for guests to share.
