Montrose Value Lodge

The room was comfortable, though a bit dark, and the bathroom was clean. The staff were really friendly, and the pool area was lovely. My girls had a brilliant time there. We had a pleasant enough stay. The place has recently changed hands, and it looks like they’re working hard to make improvements, so keep an eye on it.

The rooms were clean and had huge TVs. Breakfast was available, which wasn’t the case when it was Days Inn. Jimmer's next door is great for dinner. Some work is still needed in the bathroom, where the baseboards were coming off the wall, and the new owners are doing construction.

For the much lower price compared with the rest of town, this place is adequate if you’re fine with the basics. Breakfast was basic, too. The owners seem kind and involved, and from what I read, they’ve taken over. It’s obvious there’s plenty to fix, but I’m sure they can make it work. My bed was clean but uncomfortably soft, the chair was broken, half the lamps didn’t work, and neither did the safe. The walls are thin enough that you hear everything outside, which left me feeling unsafe. Big lights outside also made it look like broad daylight when I woke in the middle of the night.

The location is convenient, just a couple of minutes from shops and restaurants and right at the edge of town as you come in. I’d stay again. Every room has a 65-inch TV, and there’s a cute little pool with a tiki umbrella that never seemed too busy, so you can just relax there. The price, location, complimentary breakfast, and staff were all great. The rooms need some repairs and updating: our lamp didn’t work, the toilet paper holder was pulled off the wall, and the curtains were a little broken. With a bit of TLC, this place would be perfect.
