Hampton Inn & Suites Mooresville/Lake Norman

Workmen staying in rooms were doing renovations, and there was paint and spackling all over the elevator floors. The bathroom outlet didn’t work, and the mirror had been removed, leaving no working outlet in the room for a hairdryer. We also found that someone had smoked pot in our room after we left our luggage there in the afternoon. We checked the vents and AC and could tell it was definitely in the room. We paid more to stay in a nicer area, but this was by far our worst Hampton experience. Pitiful.

The customer service is terrible. The owners don’t seem to care whether customers come back because it’s a busy area and they think the next customer will make up for it. My work will have me in the area several more times this year, needing 3 to 5 rooms each time. That’s how much money they’ll lose.

The staff were kind and helpful, but the mornings were noisy. During cleaning, staff were somewhat loud, and the seals around the main room doors weren’t great. The bathroom layout was awkward too: the toilet paper holders were broken or didn’t fit the rolls, and the tub plug was positioned so the shower curtain couldn’t contain water unless the plug hung outside the tub. We stayed two nights for a nearby wedding. There were several truck break-ins in the parking lot during our stay. We weren’t directly affected, thankfully, but locals told us it happens fairly often and has affected nearby homes and businesses too.

The two women at the front desk were wonderful, but the hotel was old, dirty and musty. The rooms were dark and dated, with dirty, dark rugs. It needs a major renovation. The location was beside other businesses’ parking lots, and traffic on the approach road was terrible. I read the online reviews before booking, and that 4.6 rating was way off. We left before even bringing in our luggage. Such a big disappointment, we couldn’t stay.
