Quality Inn Moriarty

The clerk at the front desk was lovely. I had my dog, and he gave me treats and poop bags, which more hotels should do. The room was clean and cheap, but pretty dated. The bed was worn and uncomfortable, and the thin walls meant my dog got upset at every bang and thud all night. I was exhausted after 14 hours of driving and only needed a place to sleep. The mini fridge made an awful racket for two hours before I figured out how to turn it off. Then the heater kicked in with a noise like a semi's diesel engine starting. A few things like that drove me nuts late at night, though I probably shouldn't complain too much given it was clean and inexpensive.

We lasted less than an hour before deciding to sleep in the truck instead. There was a cat with visible open sores walking on the counters, and nobody had warned us, which matters for people with allergies. The walls were paper thin, and a huge gap under the door let in hallway light and noise. Getting our money back was difficult, but after following up relentlessly we finally got some of it. This was the worst hotel I've stayed in, an absolute nightmare. I'd give it zero stars if I could. I hope this review helps someone avoid the same mistake. We stayed under the previous ownership, so I hope things have improved since then.

Breakfast was a highlight, especially the Mexican green chili, and the location made it easy to get around, with things within walking distance or a short drive. The room was spotless and spacious, with comfortable bedding and a good range of toiletries. Staff were welcoming and helpful, and both check-in and checkout went smoothly. A fantastic stay from start to finish.

The guy at the front desk was really nice. We only stayed from 9pm to 7am, and the room could get fairly dark. The beds were okay, a little soft, with a groove that reminded me of home. I'd come back on another road trip.
