Hampton Inn By Hilton Morro Bay

Room 206 was an upgrade, and I loved it. You can see the rock and hear the ocean, and the room was spotless and comfortable. The service was friendly, with free parking and a good breakfast. It’s right off the highway, close enough for the one mile walk to the famous pier side attractions, but far enough away to be out of the rat race. It was perfect all in all. I used to stay in Cambria, but I’ve found my new place. It’s also cheaper than those boutique places on Moonstone Beach, though I love those places too.

The staff were super courteous, and the place was clean and reasonably priced for the beginning of January. Breakfast was great, and the spacious rooms were clean. The indoor pool isn’t heated, but it does the job. The Embarcadero was convenient to drive to.

Jess at the front desk is THE BEST. She welcomed me at check-in, asked whether I was a Hilton Honors member, and added my Hilton Honors number for me. She explained everything and gave world class customer service. THANK YOU JESS. The customer service here is always awesome, and this is such a great place to stay.

Breakfast was crowded that morning because water polo teams were staying at the hotel. We finally found seats at 9:30 a.m., half an hour before the 10 a.m. closing, but staff were already taking food back to the kitchen and glared at us while we tried to get something. Good luck with that. I’ve stayed at many Hampton Inn 's in California and out of state, and I’ve never experienced anything like it. We stayed in October, 2025, and the hotel was otherwise nice, but housekeeping was lacking: there was dust on top of the tv (photo). Wet towels from the polo teams had been left all over the hallway from the elevator to our room, in the way of rolling luggage. They were still there the next morning when we checked out. It was the wrong weekend to book there. The hotel staff didn’t seem to care about a few issues we had. We asked for a bath mat because the liquid soap dispenser location leaves a buildup of soap on the shower/tub floor, making it very slippery. We never got one, so we took no showers. The a/c in room 208 didn’t work all night until 7;00 a.m. that morning, leaving the room stuffy and warm. There was no point reporting it, since they wouldn’t care.
