We paid $162, and it wasn't worth it. The floors were so dirty that our socks turned brown, and the sheets in both beds had dirt and hair on them. The beds were extremely tall and soft, and took up nearly all the space, leaving only about 18 inches around them and making it hard to move. The bathroom was tiny too, with barely enough room to squeeze between the shower and sink to reach the toilet. I had requested two queen beds. At first I saw only one, then found the second bed in another room. There was no ice machine, and the TV had only a few slightly fuzzy channels and no cable. When we arrived during business hours, the office door was locked. We rang twice and waited a few minutes before someone opened it. The woman looked confused when I said I had a reservation, then went behind the counter without welcoming or inviting me in. I went to the counter as a child came in behind it, and the woman asked my name and handed over a key. When it got dark, I tried to close the broken blinds and saw a couple of people right outside the window, looking in. They kept watching us as I tried to fix the blinds. More people arrived in cars, circled our vehicle, and peered in the windows and at the license plate. I went outside, and they all walked into the office. I realized they were family or relatives of the hotel owner. It was very odd, and we didn't feel welcome.

The bed was so comfortable, and the bedding was soft. It's a cute little property, and the gentleman at check-in was really sweet. Loved it.

The bathroom had a faint moldy smell and a small sliding window with no curtain. For privacy from the back parking lot, we had to keep it shut even when we wanted some air. There's wire mesh fencing out there; a trellis with flowers or some shrubs might help. The bedroom window blind didn't block daylight or the bright courtyard light shining right at me. It was hot at night, and the air conditioner was quite loud. The polyester sheets and blanket also left me feeling sweaty. The room was very small for a queen bed and luggage for two, with no closet or hooks for clothes or a toiletry bag. There's no porch, which could make unloading the car a pain in rain or snow. We were fine since the weather was hot and sunny. The place goes for an old-world charm, but felt very bare-bones. It might work for an overnight stay for one person or a hiker. It was better than the Motel 6 in Eureka, but not by much.

We stayed in room 2, which was just right for a good night's sleep. The rooms have personality and are adorable, and ours was comfortable, though it doesn't look newly built. For the rate, you get the basics: a very clean bed, shower, and coffee maker. We didn't have noisy neighbors like at the big hotels. The gentleman who checked us in was incredibly kind, sweet, and fatherly. He has a great accent and a deep, resonant voice, so I encouraged him to record audiobooks.

After a long day of sightseeing or events, we wanted to sleep comfortably, but the second room never cooled down. The fan and ceiling light there weren't working, and running the AC in the guest room didn't help. When I contacted the owner, they said they already knew about the broken fan and that previous guests hadn't complained. I asked for a partial refund and was told they couldn't offer one. They later brought us a small fan. They should have told us about the problem so we could have booked somewhere else. The bed covers and carpet were dingy, the bathroom tap was wobbly, and the place felt completely dated and run down. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
