Comfort Suites Mount Vernon

The double queen suite I had was clean, newly remodeled, and well appointed. The floors were surprisingly quiet, with very little traffic, even though this is a large, older Comfort Inn that seems popular. Staff were friendly, and the desk quickly got something sent up to my room, which I appreciated. Breakfast was great. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and others that deliver. Management said they book to capacity most nights, so I’d book early. I’d happily stay here again.

The rooms were clean, and the service was very friendly, especially Kim’s. Breakfast was good and included in the room price. I wouldn’t use the third floor ice maker, though. Once the ice melted, I found lots of black particles in my glass.

I booked a dog friendly room online through Orbitz, but there was dog hair all over the room and on sheets that didn’t look clean. I can’t sleep in a bed like that. I’m traveling with a small dog that doesn’t shed, but I still expect a clean room. I’ve put towels over the worn out couch so I can try to get some sleep. I’m really grossed out and disappointed after seeing reviews that suggested a better experience. After a long travel day, I don’t want to deal with this. The woman who checked me in wasn’t very friendly and acted like checking me in was a chore. I doubt she’d do anything about it.

The staff were helpful, and I slept right away in the very comfortable king bed. It was a decent enough stop for a tired traveler, and I’d stay again, but the company should replace the worn furniture in the room and lobby. The sofa there was stained and worn. Breakfast was just okay, with powder egg discs, greasy ham circles, and doughy biscuits. Bringing a dog costs an extra $35, which stung, but I needed a place for the pooch. There’s a great Mexican restaurant within walking distance just behind the hotel, and the huge Circle K across the street was handy for a quick fill up.
