DoubleTree by Hilton Mt. Vernon

Both stays on my roundtrip road trip were disappointing. Each room was dirty, with spider webs and dirt around the doors. On my second visit, the key for the top floor room didn't work, so I had to ask for another. They offered a first floor room, which wasn't comfortable, but I had to take it. Its toilet was gross with mold staining, the roll was already half used, the ground floor windows were unlocked and made me feel unsafe, and the sheets didn't smell clean, even though they looked washed. I'm a Hilton member and often stay at Homewoods suits and Hamptons across the roads, but this was my first Doubletree in the midwest and a huge disappointment. The elliptical gym equipment didn't work well, and there were no cleaning wipes. The front desk had no toothpaste when I'd left mine in the vehicle, though the staff were kind and did their best to help.

OUR STAY WAS THE BEST!! The breakfast was awesome and everyone was so friendly. We needed a roll away bed, and the young man who brought it was prompt and polite. 10 out of 10 for sure. The only awful part was seeing a guest take an entire bath in the hot tub at the end of the night.

The rooms felt dark and worn out, and they need a MAJOR refresh. Under the refrigerator was old, dried-on food, the ceiling had damaged spots, and the cable to the old school cable box had a short. My husband managed to fiddle with it and get the TV working, or we would've had no TV all evening. Half the headboard reading lights were out. In the bathroom, the shower was filthy, the doors didn't glide, long black hairs were on the shower floor when we arrived, and every bracket for shower products was broken. The shower light didn't work, and half the lighted mirror was burned out, leaving the bathroom too dim for me to put on makeup. Our stay began with a digital key that wouldn't work, and the bathroom was disgusting. Hilton should be ashamed to put its name on this hotel. There are plenty of other hotels across the street. Pick one.

We booked through the Hilton app more than a week ahead because we were going to an event at the hotel. At check-in, staff said we couldn't have a room because we lived in the next town and counted as locals, supposedly due to a management decision. I asked why nobody had told us before check-in after we'd had the reservation for so long. The front desk staff were rude and unprofessional, then said they'd make an exception this time since we were attending the event. The only good part of the stay was checking out. The gentleman at the desk was polite, friendly, and very professional.
