Nicholas at reception was a huge help, pointing out where things were so we could plan our outings. The entrance doors open automatically, and inside has a classy, mansion-like look. The room felt cramped, partly because of the shelf, and the couch wasn’t comfortable. Looking from the room toward the pool and the halls across the way made me reluctant to leave the window open. The garage felt creepy after dark. I wondered if it only has two levels, and it needs more lighting. The elevator wasn’t working, and walking through a narrow alley to reach the hotel felt uncomfortable. I wish the garage connected better to the building. I also disliked that the temperature control skips even numbers. Some positives, plenty of negatives.

We like staying at Embassy Suites, and I really enjoyed this one’s foyer and friendly staff. But we didn’t get housekeeping and ran out of bathroom essentials. I called several times for towels, with no luck, so we ended up asking at the front desk. For a hotel this nice, I expected better service. I’m not sure I’d return.

It’s a beautiful property in a good location, and the staff were good. But self parking costs $32.00 a day, and room cleaning was inconsistent on three of our four days. The managers made promises and didn’t follow through. A shame for such a nice place.

We had a great weekend here. The hotel feels modern and fresh, everything was well maintained, and every staff member we met was pleasant and helpful. Special thanks to the evening front desk clerk who found me hand soap that wouldn’t set off an allergy migraine. Breakfast was worth having both mornings. The made-to-order omelettes were a nice upgrade, and there are tons of good restaurants a short drive away if you’d rather eat elsewhere. The location also made it easy to get to Charleston and the barrier islands. Nearby waterfront park and pier are lovely for photos of the famous bridge, and there’s a playground for kids. The parking deck was easy to use and had plenty of spaces. Guests checking in can park on the first two levels, while the room key opens the upper ones. At $30 a day, parking is a bit annoying, though about what I’d expect for local hotels of this caliber. My only small gripes: I wish more rooms had scenic views, since the neighboring office building blocks the bay for most west-facing rooms. The beds were firmer than I like, but I still slept well. I’d absolutely come back.
