Golden Manor Inn & Suites

We'd planned a relaxing afternoon at Golden Manor Inn & Suites in Muldraugh, KY, using the pool and hot tub, but we left after about six hours, before dark. Around the pool, the atmosphere felt strange and uncomfortable for a family. The property seemed full of people I took to be construction workers, mostly Hispanic men, and one man was openly drinking a Modelo beer while families with kids were swimming. Our room initially looked nice and clean, but then we found a roach in the bathroom soap basket, and that was enough for us to leave. The pool visit fell far short of what we'd hoped for. I doubt we'll return unless the property is thoroughly cleaned and the overall environment is better managed.

There were no other guests, so we could choose whichever room we wanted. The TV was good, too. Quite a few zombies outside, though, and it got noisy at night. Would recommend!

The courtyard fountain was really cute, and breakfast at the restaurant in the morning was lovely. The room was very clean and already had the AC running when we got back from dinner, which was a blessing in the heat. The restaurant had closed when we arrived, but staff suggested a few places and gave us directions. We got there around 10 pm on the July 4th weekend, and they greeted us right away, showed us where to park, and made it easy to unload. My boyfriend and I had a great stay. I wish there were more places like this, and the staff really made it worthwhile. Sorry I can't remember their names, but they were the best.

The rooms are run down. While I was out, someone got into my room and stole my money. The hotel gave someone else access after I'd checked in, and they're doing nothing to look into who used a key card. It could have been the woman they booked into my room afterward or one of their employees, but nothing is being done about it.
