The hotel was empty, and I was in my 50s with my CPAP machine, just needing a safe place to sleep through the storm before heading home to work at 4:30 in the morning. I live 10 minutes away in a tiny home, and severe weather was expected. My son told me not to drive 1.5 hours to family, and said he'd get me a room for the night. Since I have dogs, I called a few hours ahead to check, and the woman said it was okay. I reserved a room and was quoted $83 for the night, including the dog fee, taxes, and fees. I waited until the last minute to head over so I could sleep through the storm, but at bedtime the manager refused to honor the reservation price. When I explained I had a reservation and lived nearby, he asked if I was local. From what I hear, he price gouges locals. The woman who took my reservation was amazing, and the woman beside the manager was wonderful too. The manager was a money-hungry, terrible person. I wasn't there to party. Would it really have hurt to let me sleep safely at the rate I was quoted? Money hungry!

The TV didn't work right, and the little shampoo tube had already been used, with half of it gone. I've never heard of a place charging extra if you arrive late, but that's what they do if you're late for the time on your reservation.

A loud sound from the adjacent building went on for hours, and many people couldn't sleep. The front desk clerk wouldn't call the police, saying he was too busy. A customer called 911, and the police waited for the owner to arrive. That took another hour. The noise finally stopped at 3:47.

We came here after the motel I'd booked refused to rent to me because I was “local.” This place had no problem with that and was happy to rent us a room. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was decent. If I need a getaway near Cave City again, I'd book here.
