Comfort Inn & Suites Tuscumbia - Muscle Shoals

My friend and her family won’t be going back to Coldwater Inn in Tuscumbia, and I don’t blame them. On their first night, the police were called on her for “disturbing the peace” even though she hadn’t done anything wrong. The officers reportedly said the complaint seemed racially motivated. The next morning, with 30 minutes left before breakfast closed, a staff member blamed them for a mess they didn’t make and pressured them to leave early. Another family in the room was allowed to eat without being treated that way, and the difference was hard to miss. My friend does a tremendous amount to uplift the Black community, so it’s deeply disappointing that her family was made to feel targeted and unwelcome. Coldwater Inn should investigate the staff member involved. Anyone unable to treat guests fairly shouldn’t be dealing with customers. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to people who expect equitable, professional service. Boycott Coldwater Inn in Tuscumbia!

The breakfast was disgusting, and all four of us woke up wheezing and congested. The sausage was green, soggy, and falling apart; the eggs had a powdery texture, and the waffle mix looked green and tasted as if cleaning chemicals had been left in it after the dispenser was cleaned. Other people in the dining area were grossed out and wouldn’t eat either. The hallways had the worst musty, moldy smell I’ve ever come across. When we checked the AC unit, it was full of white mold and thick layers of dust, and there were stink bugs on the walls. This place clearly has a mold and humidity problem. If zero stars were an option, I’d give that.

The breakfast food was fresh, and the staff were courteous. Check-in went really well, and I had a great conversation with the GM after I left. I’d highly recommend staying at this Comfort Inn.

The GM made checkout a great experience. They were friendly, thanked me for my business, and had an outgoing comment about the weekend ahead. Check-in was ordinary, though, with no special welcome for a Platinum Choice Hotel member. The room had a cockroach on the bathroom counter that we killed, and the interior had an old, musty smell. The upgrade is 8 years old and needs another one.
