The view from our 14th-floor room was nice, though work on the pier and beach was going on nearby, with boats dredging sand and pumping it through pipes. The surf looked brown to me. The hotel itself is worn and old, and our king room wasn’t clean: the carpet and floors seemed long overdue for cleaning. There was no dresser, the furniture looked secondhand, and the bed creaked and cracked whenever we sat or moved. We’re new Capital Vacation owners, six months in, and had booked three nights at Camelot By The Sea. It felt like a family spot with kids everywhere. There’s no bar or food at the hotel. For a couple hoping for quiet or a romantic break, I’d look elsewhere. It was dirty and loud.

The parking garage setup was especially convenient, and the staff were consistently helpful. There are several pools and hot tubs, plus plenty of lounge chairs on the grass. It’s right on the ocean and was a really nice stay, even though the place is a little dated. I’d recommend it for families. The poolside bar hasn’t been open for over a year, so seeing its signs and ads still up was odd. There’s also no breakfast, shops, or coffee vendor anymore.

We’ve been coming back for more than 20 years and have always had a great time. The rooms are roomy, and the beachy feel is welcoming. Staff at the front desk are usually friendly and helpful, and the location works perfectly for us, with what you need just around the corner. We had a fantastic stay at Camelot and can’t wait to return.

The housekeeper who came after we reported the room was the bright spot. She was friendly, professional, and thorough, and we left her a tip. The front desk also sent someone promptly to clean the room again from top to bottom. It needed that: when we arrived, it was so dirty that walking around left the bottoms of our feet filthy, and we had to wipe them before getting into bed. The downstairs bar was closed but still advertised on the website. When we showed photos and raised the problems during the Capitol Vacations presentation, staff mostly brushed off our concerns. The resort is owned and operated by Capitol Vacations, which has managed it for several years, yet its condition is unacceptable. This was my first stay at one of their properties, and my last.

It was February, so the weather was cold and rainy, but the heated lazy river and hot tub made the visit enjoyable. The kids loved it, and some even used the outdoor pools. We’re in our 70s, so those pools weren’t for us. The hotel is very old, though the rooms have been remodeled fairly well. Every room has a balcony facing the ocean, with a beautiful view.
