Crown Reef Resort

My son still had a good time in the indoor pool, which I’m glad about, but the indoor jacuzzis were a real letdown this visit. They were warm or cool instead of the warm, hot temperature we were used to, so I didn’t get to enjoy them even though I’d been looking forward to it. Other parents noticed too and skipped the tubs because they just weren’t warm enough. My five year old and I come here and Dunes Village often, especially in winter, since he loves the water and indoor play area. We stayed 02/14-02/16 this time. Hopefully the jacuzzis are better next time. Thanks for the stay.

The water park was a big hit with my kids. The water was warm, and the pools were heated, including the outdoor ones. There’s also an indoor pool, sectioned off with roll-down plastic sheets to keep out the cold. It was still warm and usable. They loved the huge arcade too. We had a clean oceanfront corner room, and Doug at the front desk was very friendly. My only check-in gripe was having to get pool bands from the concierge desk where they try to sell you things, though that seems typical for these resorts. The buildings are older but seemed well maintained. The restaurant and bar, Loko Gecko, was fine for drinks, and the bartender was really friendly. I was a little worried after reading reviews, but our stay was perfectly fine. Myrtle Beach resorts like these aren’t five-star luxury places, so keep expectations in line. They make for a nice, inexpensive getaway, especially off season. I’d recommend it for families whose kids like swimming.

I come for the Christmas party every year and look forward to being back next year. The kids love the pools and water slides. I don’t know much about the rooms, but the restaurant food I’ve had was great and filling, with portions just right for me. The burgers and appetizers are really good. It is a bit pricey, though that’s expected at an oceanfront resort. The bar’s alcohol prices are about what you’d expect at an oceanfront hotel.

The elevator I was in got stuck, which apparently happens often, but I called for help and got it right away. That was my only complaint. We had a neat, very clean room, and my little family really enjoyed the stay. The onsite restaurant was amazing and the staff were so nice. Crown reef has lots of outdoor and indoor pools and activities for kids, plus easy beach access. It’s close to everything with a short drive, but far enough from the middle of town that traffic getting in and out isn’t too bad. We stayed in June 2024, and I’d definitely come back. It seemed great for families.
