Dayton House Resort, BW Signature Collection

Right on the beach, with pools, plenty of grass, and deck lounges. Our room was large, with a sofa, table, chairs, and kitchenette, plus a wonderful lanai. The place is old but well maintained and clean, and the staff were great. We got a discounted off-season rate from Super, but even at the usual price, we thought it was excellent. Breakfast had eggs, waffles, sausage, and good coffee.

We spent two weeks here, and the oceanfront view was spectacular. The rooms were clean and updated, and the staff were exceptional. I'd recommend this resort to anyone visiting the Myrtle Beach area.

The breakfast was awful too, with hard sausage and runny eggs, unless that's what you like. There was partying late into the night more than once. The first night the police had to come at 1 a.m., then a different room was at it until 1 the following night. I called and went down to the office, but they still didn't quiet down until 2 a.m. The floor had toenails on it, and the carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. I'm frustrated that Expedia has such high reviews for a place that doesn't deserve them. This place needs a complete overhaul.

Parking is the one drawback at the moment, though they're doing construction, so it should get better once that's finished. Our room on the 14th floor of the suites building was clean and really nice, with a great view. You need a security card to use the elevator, which made things feel a little safer. Nice place.
