Gazebo Inn Oceanfront

The view and beach proximity were lovely, and Blondie at the front desk was nice, though I can’t remember her name. The room and inn were another story. It had a horror movie, trap house kind of feel, and I don’t understand the 6+ rating. There was mold, damaged doors that hadn’t been repaired after salt damage, thin walls, and the room wasn’t properly clean. I had to clean the bathroom myself, which isn’t what I want to do on vacation. We heard neighbors partying through the door and smelled their smoke despite all the no smoking signs. I killed one bug on my bed the first night, thankfully the only one I saw, but we slept with the lights on both nights to feel comfortable. The view, beach access, and price were the only things going for it, I guess I got what I paid for. Seeing the gazebo, signs, and parking lot as we arrived already made me wary. This place needs a serious overhaul, and I wouldn’t come back unless someone paid me a lot.

That gorgeous view and the friendly, professional woman at the front desk couldn’t make up for how dirty and run down the hotel was. I saw a bug on my pillow last night, and it’s the only place I’ve stayed where I didn’t feel safe. I don’t know how it got good reviews. I’m writing this so nobody else gets fooled like I did. Don’t stay here unless you’re truly desperate for a room. Even sleeping in your car might seem better.

For me, Gwen is what makes this place feel like home and safe. She goes above and beyond as a front desk rep, and people come back because she’s here. The views are great, the location is convenient, and it’s affordable. The cleaning staff and everyone else were lovely, too. Every place has its downsides, but my experience with Gwen is why this is a five for me. This hotel should be called Ms Gwen Inn!

The staff were amazing, every person we dealt with was an absolute gem. They found us a first-floor room, worked with us on the price, and helped extend our stay. We arrived as walk-ins and couldn’t get an accessible room, though, which made it hard for my amputee partner to get around. The building is very old, even though our room was clean. Street-level parking is difficult, but there’s a basement garage that works for smaller cars. For an oceanfront room in Myrtle Beach, the price reflects what you get.
