Golden Mile Getaway Steps From the Beach

We had a great, clean stay here in 2025, so we booked again. This time we were disappointed by how much the cleanliness had gone downhill. There was an awful smell from the bathroom drain, the door wouldn’t lock, and the bed had dirty bedding. Khadija charged me twice: I’d paid the full $470, but she charged another $416. They admitted it was her mistake, but offered no help beyond telling me to wait for the refund or take vouchers. The money didn’t come back until we left, which threw off our trip budget. It was really quiet, and getting to the beach was easy, just across the road. $470 is a really good price for five nights and four days. We’d been excited to find somewhere to return to again and again, but we most likely won’t be back.

The place looks more run down than the Expedia pictures make it seem, though it looks like they may be trying to renovate. The front desk woman wasn’t friendly, and the room felt bare and unwelcoming, with no pictures or anything. Some things were run down too, like the toilet paper holder. You’d think they could run to the dollar store for a new one, lol. I definitely won’t stay here again.

My relaxing weekend turned into a nightmare over the $150 deposit. I was told it would be refunded to my card, but after waiting 5 to 10 business days I was still waiting for my money. I called the hotel, and the front desk woman said the charge was only a hold and hadn’t been taken from my card. But my bank statement showed I was down $150, and the money never came back. She snapped at me and told me to contact my bank instead of helping. I know when $150 has been taken and not returned. It’s crazy to treat that amount like pocket change I wouldn’t notice. She didn’t even ask my name to look into whether the refund had gone through. This was the worst service I’ve ever received, and the woman at the front desk should be fired. Be careful booking here. You may never see that $150 deposit again unless you jump through hoops with your bank. Stay here only if you want to throw $150 away and then be gaslit by the front desk. This place is a scam!

I’ve stayed here before and had a nice experience, but this time the receptionist seemed to be in a mood and was rude when we arrived. Check-in itself was fairly quick. In the room, I found coils of hair on the pillow and a dirty bed, so I had to call down for clean sheets, pillows, and bedding. There was food smeared on the fridge too, even though I’d just checked in and hadn’t brought any food. The AC unit was extremely loud and kept me up all night. When I checked out, all I got was an apology, though staff did acknowledge that the supposedly clean room had very dirty bedding.
