The room itself was a mess, with sand on the floor, grimy hallway carpets, and a hot tub that looked dirty. Nearly $200 for one night, too. The booking situation was frustrating as well. My cousin lives in MB and had graduated high school in February, around the time all that snow hit. I couldn't make my original dates because we got a foot where I live and Myrtle Beach got quite a bit too. I couldn't cancel, which was fine, since I was willing to move the reservation. But when I shifted it two weekends later, they added $100, saying it was spring break season. There wasn't anybody there. A family member who used to work at these hotels later told me they weren't supposed to charge more when weather caused the change. Then, while I was checking in, a guy working there shouted across the lobby, “IS THAT YOUR BLACK KIA” three times before I realized he meant me. I turned around and told him it wasn't my car. So unprofessional. I wouldn't stay here again in a million years lol.
The location and front desk staff are the only things I can praise. I've stayed here for years for my anniversary with my husband, and this time I booked well ahead through the hotel itself. That was a mistake: I paid far too much for an ocean-view room that was filthy and damaged. I took pictures and showed the desk. They offered a cleaner room four floors up, but my husband had just had surgery and moving all our things again sounded like too much, so I declined. I mainly wanted reassurance that we wouldn't be charged for damage that was already there, and they said not to worry. I'll find out at checkout Tuesday. This place has gone downhill a lot in two years. The pools are filthy, and they closed the outdoor jacuzzi on Sunday, May 17. Then they shut that outdoor hot tub down again the next day. The male bartender charged me $4 more for a Myrtle margarita on Saturday than the female bartender charged on Sunday. Guests asked her for rock, country, or pop, and she turned the music off. Asking for fresh towels felt like we were trying to rob the place. If you stay, don't book ahead; you might get a better deal at Sea Crest next door.
I love the oceanfront rooms here, especially having a balcony of our own. The pool's hot tub and swim-up bar are great, and the drinks are reasonably priced. There are good restaurants and shops within walking distance. One of my favorite places to stay, and I plan to return soon ❤️.
We had a really enjoyable stay. The staff were extremely friendly, and the room was clean, cool, and comfortable. I liked the somewhat private balcony, too. A few small things could be better: the parking garage is narrow, the living room had only one lamp and could use more lighting, and we could have used more closet space or hangers in the wardrobe. Otherwise, it was absolutely fabulous.
The room was clean and had been remodeled, so we had no issue with it. The noise was the problem. The pool bar played loud rap from 10 AM to 5 PM, and the hotel next door kept loud music going from 6 to 10. It felt like being at a club from morning until night. If you're hoping for a quiet place to nap in the afternoon, this isn't it.
