Knights Inn - Myrtle Beach

We were in town overnight for a concert, so we didn’t use the shower, though it looked clean. The tub faucet worked when I rinsed beach sand off my feet, and the beach is right in the hotel’s backyard. My boyfriend and I stayed from 5/12/19 to 5/13, and our room was clean, odor-free, and everything worked. It looked like it had been redone within the past five years or so. It was a comfortable, no-frills place to sleep, and check-in and checkout were quick. I was disappointed there was no breakfast, but there are so many nearby places to eat that it wasn’t a problem. We had a great experience.

We never spent the night because the room felt unsafe and was in terrible shape. There were bugs, huge gaps around the door that could be pushed open from outside, a terrible smell, a nasty bedspread, and a tub that wouldn’t drain during a shower. The pool was filthy, so we had to buy bug spray. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived, so we waited and went shopping. I wish we’d checked it before paying, but the girls were excited to get to the beach. When we asked the office for a refund, the front desk woman refused and said only the manager could issue it. At 11 o’clock we were searching for somewhere else to stay. While we were at another location, the clerk tried to rent out the room we’d already paid for. We went back each day to speak to the manager, but he was nowhere to be found. This place doesn’t deserve to stay open, and the website photos are deceptive and photoshopped. Beware. I give it a 0.

The beach access and view from our balcony were amazing, and the pool was clean and nice. But we only stayed one night and wouldn’t recommend the hotel. We’d booked a double bed, but the beds looked unmade when we arrived. The blanket had cigarette burns and looked and felt like a curtain. There wasn’t even a shower head, the air conditioning didn’t work, and the carpet was stained and looked unvacuumed. The balcony door wouldn’t shut all the way or lock. Breakfast was advertised, but all they had was coffee and muffins. The hotel is old and badly needs updating.

We booked two rooms for three nights and ended up needing another hotel. One of our rooms wouldn’t open, and when I asked for a different one, they said no. Later, we went out to eat and came back locked out, with nobody there to help. They agreed to charge us for one night, but billed all three. Our bank had to get our money back, and the owner claimed we’d stayed all three nights. The rooms were dirty, the doors didn’t shut properly, and there were families of cockroaches and other bugs. The staff had an attitude, and the online photos looked nothing like the real place. It was the worst hotel experience ever. If you want awful service, bug-filled rooms, and a manager and owners who are big liars, this is the place for you.
