La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Myrtle Beach Broadway Area

This used to be our go-to place when we came to MB because Broadway at the Beach is right across the street. That convenience is why I'm especially disappointed, and we're unlikely to stay again. The first room we were given hadn't been made up. The beds weren't made, there was still stuff in the room, and towels were on the floor. I told the front desk, and the man put us in another room that housekeeping had finished, but it had no shower curtain. We only found that out close to midnight, after we'd gone to Broadway at the Beach and came back to sleep.

Nine days after checkout, my $100 deposit hold still hadn't returned to my balance and wasn't showing in my account at all. My bank said to contact the merchant, so I called. The staff lectured me about how holds work and hung up when I said it had never gone back into my account. I called again and supposedly got the general manager, who was no better. He said I probably spent the money without realizing it and basically told me tough luck. I know what I have and what I spend. Everything about the stay was fine until checkout and trying to get the deposit back. The staff were rude, and I'd have rather paid more for one night somewhere that valued its customers. I've stayed at hotels that treat people better. Great job, LaQuinta. If I weren't from out of town, I'd put you on the news.

The rooms were dated, and the desk workers were terrible. The owners came across as disrespectful and extremely rude, and seemed not to care about their staff. They have front desk workers handling breakfast, which I hadn't seen before. Having them go back and forth made it messy and gross. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. I'd sleep in the street first.

I stayed here for years, but after new management took over, the service went downhill. I was here for a week in July and Susanne did wonders with breakfast. On a recent stay, she was gone, and the food was barely edible, like a WWII ration. The rooms were disgusting, and the staff had all been replaced with people who seemed untrained, unprofessional, and unsuited to the jobs. People who'd been there longer before the management change had lost their jobs. Go somewhere else, for your own safety.
