Monterey Bay 1411

Our suite felt more like a condo, with two AC units keeping its two areas comfortable. The balcony view was beautiful, the shower pressure was great, and every staff member we met was friendly. There was plenty of room for three adults, with a comfortable bed for everyone plus a couch and chairs. We’ll definitely return.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff’s care made our stay memorable. Ryan, Deborah, Barbara, and Ishmell were all so welcoming. Ishmell made check-in easy, checked on us regularly, answered our questions, and was always ready to help. He made us feel right at home. Ryan, Deborah, and Barbara were wonderful too, and the fresh, delicious breakfast they prepared each morning was a lovely start to the day. The hotel was well maintained, and it was clear the staff truly cared about making guests feel welcome. Thank you all for such an enjoyable stay. We highly recommend the hotel and hope to return.

The pools are a real strength here. There’s a well-kept pool and spa on the 10th floor with great views, plus indoor and outdoor pools at ground level, a lazy river, several hot tubs, and two bridges to the beach. Breakfast was complimentary and better than expected, the staff were courteous and accommodating, and the centrally located multi-level garage made parking easy with plenty of space. Our renovated room had new tile and fresh paint, but the work was uneven. The tile wasn’t level, the balcony slider wouldn’t shut or lock fully, and there was a half-inch gap under the entry door. We could easily hear footsteps and movement from upstairs, along with plumbing noise, likely from an upstairs shower. The drain also sounded like it was inside my room’s wall, though we never saw standing water. The amenities and service made for a solid stay, but better construction and noise control would improve it.

The pools were warm, and I liked the lazy river, but they and the hotel looked very dated. Our ocean-view room was spacious, though it smelled awful and felt muggy. We left our things in Room 1535, then went swimming. When we came back, two cockroaches ran from the fridge toward the bathroom, and there was another on the bathroom wall. Disgusting. We complained at the front desk and were moved across the hotel to Room 815 on another floor. The response was, “It’s Myrtle Beach, it’s expected,” which was completely unprofessional. That room was cluttered and looked like a storage room. We showered and went to bed, but three hours later there was another cockroach on the side of the tub. We ended up washing all our clothes, spending over $20. Management offered a $50 credit, which doesn’t come close to making up for an unsanitary, uncomfortable, disappointing stay. Breakfast looked nasty and had few options. I do NOT recommend staying here.
