North Shore Oceanfront Resort Hotel with Waterpark

The service was great at the restaurants, arcade, front desk, and housekeeping. I liked the glow in the dark mini golf, and the restaurants were really good. The amenities were okay, but I expected the supposed water park to have big water slides. The lazy river was pretty big compared with other resorts, but just okay, and in an awkward spot on a side street. I'm used to pools and other amenities right by the water. I booked by accident and still don't know how, but decided to make it a mini staycation somewhere different, since I usually go to Compass Cove or Dunes village. The room was clean but extremely outdated and small for the price. I've stayed in nicer roadside motels off the highway. I've stayed at resorts in over 80% of the areas from Myrtle to North Myrtle, including Garden City and Surfside, so I know staycations. Between the price and other factors, I definitely won't book here for another one. I'll stick with what I know.

We drove 10 hours for an oceanfront room, then found out there was construction on the beach and were told we couldn't go onto it at all. I understand the city decides when construction happens, but nobody mentioned it before we arrived, not in an email, on the website, or when we called that day to confirm everything. When we spoke with the manager, our complaints were treated like they weren't valid. We were told we were the only ones leaving because of it and that this was the first day there'd been construction noise. We didn't leave just because of the construction, but because of the service. Terrible service, and I don't recommend it.

Think twice before staying here. The rooms are decent, but an ocean view can mean you're on the parking lot side with only a diagonal view of a wave. The worst part of the North Shore hotel was the front of house staff. We arrived a few hours early, and they let us leave our bags in a supposedly locked office. An employee's son went in and stole a pair of Jordan 11s from a backpack. When we told staff, they thought we were lying and refused to show video footage until we made them call the police. After hours of investigating and attitude from staff, the shoes were found, and the cop was nice. We also had to change our reservation date about a month earlier and pay another $300 deposit, bringing the total to $600. At check-in, that deposit hadn't been applied, so we had to pay the remainder on top of it. When we asked about a refund, they told us to call reservations. After the trip, reservations said to call the front desk and speak with manager Joy. We tried, but she was always in a meeting, off for the day, or at lunch, and no one called back. We called at least 20 times and kept getting the runaround. Five weeks later, we still haven't received a callback or the $300 they owe us. They let stealing happen and don't return money they're supposed to pay back. One star because I have to give at least one.

The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff very friendly, and it's a great place for kids with plenty of restaurants for all kinds of appetites. We accidentally left a camera bag behind, and the staff went above and beyond to help get it back to us. I'd definitely recommend staying here and will return when I'm back at the beach.
