Palms Resort

We rented through VRBO for a week in April 2026 and stayed on the 11th floor. The building and unit are dated, but the unit was clean, well maintained, and suitably furnished. Pool and beach access were great, and it's an easy walk or short drive to whatever you need. The covered parking is across the street. There aren't really any services apart from cleaning around the pool area. The indoor pool and hot tub seemed a bit dirty most of the time.

My wife and I have a lot of happy memories at the Palms. My father lived there for several years before he passed, and for over a decade we celebrated our birthdays there with him. Because of that history, we'll give it one more visit. I hope the problems we've seen have been fixed. Reading the recent unfavorable reviews makes me cautiously optimistic, but I'd hate for our good memories to be spoiled. Our last couple of visits didn't feel like the place we knew. The whole facility has become extremely dated and lost its freshness. The last two rooms weren't clean to the standard a resort motel should be proud of. The kitchens seemed only wiped down, and the coffee pot, refrigerator, and bathroom were dirty. There was construction debris left from a recent wall patch. Also, there was no front desk attendant at night.

My husband's birthday brought us to stay further down the strip, and the listing said it was four stars. After a three-hour drive, we couldn't get into our room because the front desk was closed. We had to go to Captain’s Quaters for help. The woman there was very helpful, but once we got in, the room smelled bad. The couch was dirty, and so was the furniture on the balcony. They also wanted to charge us for not washing the dishes. The front desk isn't available after 4, and there's so much red tape. This will be our last stay here. Lesson learned.

We always enjoy staying at the Palms Resort, and we book through Myrtle Beach Destinations. One option we especially like is the three-bedroom #502 condo. It's beautifully appointed, with newer furnishings and several direct oceanfront balconies. The Palms Building is right on the beach and within walking distance of everything. Having multiple pools and hot tubs makes it a winner for us.
