Sea Dip

The staff and location were both great, but I wouldn't stay here again unless it were bug-free and cleaned with more care. The place is old, which might have been fine on its own, but our room was dirty. There were pretzel pieces, trash, sand, and dirt across the floor, and the beds had crumbs and stains, so I didn't want to walk barefoot. We also saw roaches, the bathroom smelled like cat litter, and the furniture was in rough shape.

I loved the suite layout and the view, and the staff were friendly and worked hard to keep everyone comfortable in the heat. The front desk handled my concerns right away with great customer service, and I appreciated the fresh towels, regular trash pickup, and that nothing went missing. I was also glad to hear from several guests who have treated Sea Dip as a home away from home for years, and they had only good things to say. I'd book again. My main frustrations were that the room was dirtier than I like and the single slow elevator was difficult in the humidity. I spent almost four hours cleaning after buying supplies, which shouldn't be necessary on vacation. Housekeeping came in often while I was out to empty trash and bring towels, but I would have liked a do not disturb sign or some notice before staff entered while my belongings were there. I'd prefer to know when someone will be in the space I'm occupying.

The view was good and the staff were pretty nice, and the stay was manageable. Still, the room felt run down and dated. There was sand on the bed when we arrived, the pillows were extremely flat, and paint was peeling from the furniture, walls, and ceiling. Both the main entrance and balcony door were hard to open, and there wasn't a do not disturb sign.

The location worked well, with easy beach access, straightforward parking across the street, and Broadway at the Beach nearby. We liked the view, and the staff we met were friendly. The bed was okay, but the sheets wouldn't stay on properly. Roaches came out at night, and I think I killed seven during our stay. I assume the hotel knows about the issue and is working on it, but that's my main concern. The place has potential, though it feels very dated. With some care and investment in updates, it could be a nice hotel. We probably won't stay again.
