Sea Gypsy Inn Oceanfront

The beds had trash in them and bugs in one, while the other looked like someone had urinated in it before the sheets were put back on. There was urine around the toilet, mold in the tub, and food on the floor. The room clearly hadn't been cleaned. We booked online, arrived, and knew it was a mistake, but checked in and took the kids, my friend, and our things up to look before unpacking. We reported everything at the desk. The owner and housekeeper kept blaming each other, then showed us two more rooms that were just as bad or worse. We had to ask for our money back. This is absolutely not a place you want to stay.

The view is gorgeous and the location is perfect, but room 313 was filthy and the building felt scary. There was hair all over the toilet and shower, poop stains on the toilet seat and rim, and the fridge was awful. The beds were covered in mold, dirt, and hair. I went to the front desk to ask for another room or someone to clean, but though it was marked open, the door was locked and no one was there. Our motel door didn't close fully either, leaving a gap where people outside could see in. The place has potential, but it's run down, poorly cared for, disgusting, and sketchy.

The front desk man was very nice and apologized when we left. We found flying bugs and roaches throughout the room, so we put our luggage back in the car, checked out, and didn't feel safe staying there. There was also a huge trash mound outside when we arrived, which seemed to explain the bugs. He asked us to call Monday about a refund. When I did, the owner? refused, saying they could have sprayed. We didn't want to stay in a room full of bug spray and dead bugs. It was an awful experience. Shame on the owner for keeping my money, and I'll be making a few phone calls.

The room was on the beach and clean, and the owners were very helpful and nice. Parking was limited, but the rooms were cheap. The place is old and the decor was outdated. The bed was firm, though the mattress cover made a crinkling sound, and I think it was plastic. A beeping smoke detector made me think its battery was dead. What worried me most was that the hotel is in a bad neighborhood.
