The Caretta

The view was awesome, the bed was comfy, the TV was good, and the front desk staff were really friendly. The price is hard to beat. But our floor was filthy, the rooms need a serious update, and a lot of the bathroom paint was peeling.

We stay here every year, and this was the first time we had a room issue. The first room didn’t have a TV, so we had to move, but after that everything was good. Amber was very helpful at check-in and finding us another room.

The beachside location was great, and we could walk to lots of restaurants. The hotel is cute and clearly an older building that’s been renovated, though it could still use some TLC. Nothing major. The room and beds suited our needs, and the staff were kind and attentive. We didn’t really use the pool, but it looked clean apart from some sand, and the lounge chairs were comfortable enough. Our one complaint was the grimy floor, almost like the cleaner hadn’t been wiped off. We wiped it with towels, and it was a lot better. We were happy with our choice.

The view and oceanfront setting help make up for this older boutique hotel. The staff were the friendliest I’ve encountered in all my reviews, courteous, personal, and caring. The building needs a lot of TLC, though, and the slippery floor made the cleanliness issue obvious. The owner doesn’t seem well off but is trying. $180 for a walk-in on a Saturday night in early May was a bargain. The other guests were super friendly, too, and it was quiet, with no smoking and great parking.
