The Strand - A Boutique Resort

I love this location and the rooms are very nice. The hot breakfast included with the stay is really good, and I highly recommend the place. This one-bedroom condo was smaller than the ones we've had there before, but it worked just fine for two people. Check-in was a letdown this time. There wasn't enough help, the room wasn't ready at check-in, and we waited about an hour before we could get in.

Tyanna at the bar was the best, and the front desk ladies were really friendly. I enjoyed chatting with the cleaning crew in the elevator, too. The grounds and pool were in good shape, breakfast was better than I expected, and the hotel is right on the beach. The rooms could definitely use an update, but the rest of the stay made up for that. I’d recommend it.

The halls stayed noisy until 3 am, and the smell of weed was horrible. Elevators looked like they’d never been cleaned, and we got unnecessary calls to the room early in the morning. The parking garage was very small, with tight corners and turns. Our shower door was broken, and the hotel felt old and dirty. By the pool, kids were jumping and splashing in the crowded water. The beach loungers were broken and their cushions had burn holes. Bar service also felt unhygienic: the bartender touched my lime with bare hands and put it in my drink. I never saw her wash her hands.

The location made it easy to get to Myrtle Beach amenities, and the pools weren’t overcrowded. We had a lovely stay that felt worth the price. Breakfast was good, and the bar and lounge were very cozy. The fitness area left a lot to be desired, and the Wi-Fi was slow, though I was there for leisure and didn’t mind much. Check-in was the rough part. Our room wasn’t ready, and the free upgrade wasn’t ready either, so we spent a few hours at the beach while they got it prepared. That initially lowered my expectations, but the resort did what it could to make up for the inconvenience. Staff were kind and helpful. I’d come back to The Strand and recommend it to people looking for a budget stay in Myrtle Beach.
