Vancouver Motel

The balcony view of the beach from room 316 was awesome, the room was a good size, the price was budget friendly, and the front desk clerk was nice. We didn't see a single live bug. The motel is older and dated, which you have to keep in mind. My wife and I might give it another try if the owners address the issues and make sure the room is clean. Our two-night stay came with no visit from the cleaner and no fresh linens. There was dust around the pictures, on the lampshades, behind the pictures, and on the dusty hair dryer. I wiped the bathroom tile and TV with a wet cloth and it came away black with dust and crud. There were dead bugs in a picture over the left bed, webs in the corners and on the ceiling, and crud on the plumbing under the open sink. The sink and shower looked white and clean, but had a layer of scale I could scrape off with my finger. Other problems: a burn hole in the blanket, a loose outlet, a broken shelf on top of the AC, and controls on the AC unit that you have to lie on the floor to reach. The room smelled of cigarette smoke, the fridge didn't cool well and its back wall was cracked, and the right bed felt like its mattress or box springs were bad. There were no paper towels or napkins for the kitchen. The curtain was falling down, the table light had a beat-up shade and didn't work, and there was no do-not-disturb sign. The tiles by the door were coming up, and the missing weatherstrip let light and air in under the front door. The bathroom light shorted out unless I wiggled its frame. The coffee pot was broken and only worked if I pushed down on the top. All six Wi-Fi options kept cutting out and had bad service. We also seemed to have come on the bring-your-dogs weekend. Dogs barked, fought, and growled in the rooms and outside. Still, we'd be willing to visit again if the owners take care of the cleaning and maintenance issues and let us know what they plan to do.
