Wayfarer Motel

The location is amazing, but the rooms are terrible. They wanted to charge me over $100 for a room with no pillows or towels, roach eggs all over the sink, and a microwave that looked burnt and had no plate. The whole place smells of cigarettes, and there’s hardly any staff on site during the day. Other hotels nearby cost about the same and are way better. If you do stay, insist on a room across the street at Anchor Hotel.

The only good thing is the spot right across from the beach. We paid for two nights, but our things were taken out of the room on the first day, and the owner had closed the office so we couldn’t complain or dispute it. There are roaches, and the lights, doors, cabinets, pretty much everything inside is falling apart. Don’t waste your money.

This was back in 2007, so I can’t say what the place is like now. The staff and service were phenomenal, but the corner room on the second floor facing the beach felt actively haunted. The TV, lights, and sink kept turning on and off on their own. The phone flew off the hook and rang with nobody on the other end. What finally made us leave was a very deep voice speaking words I’d never heard in the middle of the night. This isn’t a story, folks. I’d be very interested to know if that room is still available.

We were surprised by how much we saved here, and the price is very good. Our room is comfortable and clean, and we have a great view just across the street from the ocean. The staff have been friendly and really helpful, making our stay pleasant. The rooms are well maintained too.
